mbaNEWS: The plan to welcome spring this year will be implemented by using diverse colors in the urban elements in Tehran with an aim of creating a different
and happy visual identity in the Tehran metropolis.
According to MBA News, Mojtaba Mousavi, Cultural and Arts Deputy Director of Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization, announcing this added: “The city of Tehran due to traffic problems and air pollution brings in mind a dusty and gray-colored image, and in order to create a more beautiful visual appearance the plan for painting the walls of the city and using various colors in the urban environment will be implemented in the first stage, which will include the facades of the
buildings and passages in the next stages.”
In this project, dubbed “Call for artistic span of color on city walls”, whose theme is development of color in urban space, active artists in this area have been invited to submit their works to the secretariat of the festival, and the best works would be selected by the jury for implementation. This project, with emphasis of the mayor of Tehran and experts in the field of urban art and members of the City Council, will be carried out with an aim of taking advantage of the creative arts and wall painting using colors in the city space.
He also announced establishment of art passages in different parts of the city, which began last year in Norouz (New Year) with an aim of revitalizing the pedestrian life in Tehran, in which various art groups perform street theater, visual arts and music. The performance last year was staged at Keshavarz Blvd. and Milad Tower, and this year, various places and different plots in the city of Tehran have been allocated for this purpose.
He also commented on the big plan of the festival of lighting and light elements and said: “Among the other activities of the Beautification Organization in welcoming the spring is the festival of lighting throughout the city the center point of which is the entrance to the Mellat Park on Vali-e Asr Avenue in Tehran.”
The cultural and arts deputy director of the Beautification Organization further remarked: “The Baharestan plan has been implemented for several years for welcoming the spring by calling artists in the three sections of wall painting, environmental arts, including creative decoration and creative eggs. This year a large number of artists have sent their works to the secretariat of the festival, and best works will be chosen and applied in the city this year. Also, the selected Haft-Sin (Seven S) plan will be implemented during this period in Tehran to welcome Norouz.”
